Building on the work of HKU’s School of English in poetry, performance, and creative writing, this project supports women in migration who wish to explore their experiences through poetry and performance.

Participants will be guided to write poems inspired by lived experiences, exploring themes like identity, belonging, migration, and more. For those who want to learn to connect their work with more people, a follow up workshop introduces techniques in sound, gesture, and presence to bring their work to life on stage. A spoken word event on 15 November 2026 will celebrate the work created in the workshops. It will also feature poet Bonnie Wai-Lee Kwong, who has been nominated for the prestigious Pushcart Prize, as special guest.
