Resonant Reveries: A Cybernetic Meditation

Experiencing the influence of our minds through a mesmerizing immersion.

Co-create a captivating visual dance by moving suspended pendulums with the mind. At its most immersive, Resonant Reveries becomes an interactive artwork. A portable EEG sensor measures brain waves in real time, causing the art piece to respond to the neural oscillatory patterns of participants from the audience. Whether it’s the drift of a daydream, the sharp clarity of focus or the deep pulse of meditation – these inner tides become motion as the pendulums swing, pause or move gently in response to brain activity.

The installation's customised neurofeedback system transforms mental phenomena into spatial choreography and is an artistic response to work done by the Centre for Buddhist Studies at the University of Hong Kong. Created by Chris Cheung (h0nh1m) for the Being Human Festival, Resonant Reveries explores the powerful idea that our minds do not exist in isolation. Even in quiet moments, our inner world sends out echoes that can connect us all, creating a shared rhythm of silent energy.
